Taleh Chiang Maia - Maia is our blue eyed brown point Tonkinese. Maia is extremely loving but can be a rather demanding little madam. She is happiest on a comfy lap or inside a bed if you are in it or even sitting on the bath (again whilst you are in it!) She follows one around the house wherever you might go. In fact Maia will cry if she is shut out or in a different room, so she is like our shadow. Maia is also one of the nosiest cats that I have ever encountered, she cannot bear not to know exactly what is going on at any time. Being hugely affectionate, one often feels a little prickle of claws on the back of ones legs which is the signal that she wants to be picked up and carried around! (Apparently I have over indulged her which could NEVER be true!) Maia is now a neuter girl but lives a very happy, peaceful life as an Aunty. She takes her maternal role extremely seriously,, she is the matriarch of the household and is a huge help with new kittens often helping with births and always helping with after care duties…
Champion Taleh Ko Samui - Minerva is our lovely DNA tested Chocolate Mink Tonkinese. Sister to Maia, and now a Champion and Grand Premier, she is wonderful at a show and so relaxed. Minerva is much quieter than her sister but has such a sweet, kind nature. She is always just content to be around one even if a little more in the background. She absolutely thrives on finding a warm lap or sleeping under the covers. She is very caring and incredibly maternal! She even produced milk for her daughters litter & subsequent litters even when spayed and has helped with all mother duties! She absolutely loves a stroke and has a very loud purr! She also has a penchant for the edge of the bath especially when it is occupied! Minerva was the most wonderful Mummy that you could possibly wish for, therefore she made the best Queen and absolutely thrives on looking after a brood of babies whether her own or not. Minerva is now neutered and remains a very much loved member of our family.
We absolutely adore our Tonks as I am sure you will gather from all of our pictures. They are a huge part of our family and that is the by far the most important thing for us along with health. They are all from excellent lines with several Champions & Grand Champions in their pedigrees. We show some of our girls (depending on how they feel about journeys and being admired) those that have been shown are doing extremely well. Please see our show page for information on this. They are beautiful, healthy and wonderful examples of the Tonkinese Breed. We hope you enjoy learning about them…
Tonkinini French Vanilla - Sphinx. This gorgeous homebred girl is from Minerva’s litter born 2nd August 2013. She is a 3rd generation Tonk, DNA tested Chocolate Point and carries dilute. Her father is Chocolatedot of Tyrius and grandsire the famous Grand Champion Angisan Xanadoo Shadow. It was very difficult choosing between the girls from the litter as they were all absolutely perfect but something about Sphinx led us to our choice. She is a lovely girl, delicate, petite and of course extremely beautiful. She has had 4 litters and been a faultless and dedicated mother to every single one! She has given us 4 beloved cats of our own and brought joy to so many families with theirs. Please do go to our kitten page, past kitten page and facebook to see heaps of photos of her babies.
She is now retired and living a life of luxury and love and enjoying the pleasures of lounging about.
Tonkinini Misty Morning - Ilia, is another homebred girlie. Ilia is from Sphinx’s first beautiful litter, her sire the very gorgeous Brek belonging to Lynda Scott of Dimovita. She is a 4th gen blue tortie with a mink coat pattern. She is a gorgeous and extremely loving girl. The biggest in the litter from birth, she is a beautiful, healthy tonk with the most fabulous temperament, she has enjoyed going to several shows as a kitten and did very well. .She enjoyed shows for a time and became a Champion, At her last show she wasn’t too impressed so we have put this on hold for a couple of years.
She is the the biggest diva of all our girls and a complete princess.. She makes all her wants known very clearly and will be certain to inspect any one who comes to visit us :) She’s very loving and a typical tonk likes to be involved in everything, whether changing the sheets or decorating the Christmas tree.
Ilia has had 2 litter of the most incredible kittens has been a devoted and wonderful Mum! She didn’t lose any condition at all and has thrived having a litter.
Tonkinini Bojangles - Hermes This boy is our huge, teddy bear. The first home reared boy that we decided to keep, not for our breeding programme but simply to have the pleasure of having a boy in the house. Hermes is from Sphinx’s 3rd litter, a very striking brown mink who we love dearly. He is surprisingly for his size the big baby of the house and wouldn’t say boo to a goose.
He is one of the tonks that we take to shows and he has done us so proud with some absolutely glowing show reports and some beautiful ribbons which is so lovely! He is now a Grand Premier and we are going to start entering the Imperial classes.
Hermes is a very special boy, we are very lucky to have this gorgeous big boy in our lives.
Tonkinini Dancing Queen - Cleo Our gorgeous brown mink tortie girl is the most amazing, affectionate little sweetheart one could wish for. She is the litter sister of Hermes and she has eyes that stare into your soul. She had a very special start here with us and wasn’t meant to stay so we feel extra lucky to have her! Its a bit of a story…. It’s really hard to choose who stays sometimes as a breeder because I truly love them all SO much and there’s things that sway you, maybe certain colours & patterns, show type etc but also with waiting lists and new mummies waiting sometimes we make mistakes in our choices because we can promise ones that we then really regret and personalities can change so much when they’re tiny and then become more special and we wish they were staying. And it’s just as well really otherwise we would have ended up with 50 Tonks instead of 7!
Well Cleo who was destined to be ours but we didnt know it. She is the most amazing girl. She was reserved early on, we intended to keep one brown mink boy from the litter which we did, Hermes, but Cleo was never on the cards, she was promised to a lovely home. They were so excited about her.
The older the kittens were the more I loved her as I always do, she purred like a rocket and was so cuddly but then all kittens are. Time for kitten collection drew closer and as always I felt mixed emotions. So very sad that they would leave but knowing how much love they would bring new families. Cleo went to a really lovely family with 2 other cats, indoor home, very loving, they all took the week off work and did everything they should.Well Cleo who was one of the most confident kittens never settled, she did something we never have experienced before and we have raised around 80 kittens all whom have settled beautifully. She cried and cried solidly for a week. So badly that I said bring her home, it wasn’t just occasional cries, proper wailing, on the phone I heard it, it sounded almost like she was on call it was so loud and persistent. The poor family 😞 they loved her but also felt it was right to bring her home to me. Cleo came home and it was like she had never left, she settled straight in, the others accepted her immediately which is pretty rare in itself with new cat smells! She was meant to be here, others on our waiting list wanted her but she never left. Cleo chose us, she knew she was meant to be here, and decided she must have what she wanted. I love her to the moon and back she is immensely special to me. My little shadow. Those beautiful aqua eyes can look right into my soul. Thank you for coming back to me Cleo, my life wouldn’t be the same without you in it!
Tonkinini My Blue Heaven - Achilles Lastly our darling boy, baby of the household but likes to think he’s a big grown up boy!
Achilles was special from the moment he arrived. An amazing litter born as a c section (our first frightening experience of one) and all thought to be dead on arrival! The vets were absolutely incredible getting them all going then they came straight home but the first 24hrs were truly terrifying getting them to feed when so weak from the anaesthetic! Will never forget it. Mummy Sphinx was totally incredible and never acted as though she’d had a major op. This was her final litter and she was spayed later in the year. They litter to us were a miracle so all were given very special names to reflect that.
Achilles is a very naughty, lovable rogue! Into everything and anything. Manages to find any shrew in the catio or spider in the house. He has even brought me red roses in bed before, believe it or not hahaha. He is a clown but very loving with an enormous purr!!
He is also a star at shows and purrs his head off, rolling around all over. He has 2 premiers and hopefully a third to come next month…
